9 things to know before having lashes done

There are main things you need to take into consideration before heading to your lash artist.

How long does it take?

Depending on the service selected, the initial application of your eyelash extensions should take 1.5 – 2 hours for Classic Extensions and 2 – 3 hours for Russian Volume Eyelash Extensions. None of these treatments can be done in 20 – 40 min, unless you have extremely low number of natural eyelashes.

How to choose a lash artist?

Checking the works of an artist before your visit is an essential step. Most people simply go to the first location they find nearby without doing due diligence and verifying experience of the artist. Following treatment they wonder why the quality is low or they even suffer from having the extensions. Professional lash masters would provide tons of pictures on their social media pages. To choose the right artist go through their profiles and see if all the pictures are done in the same style to make sure that they belong to the same person. When you’ve selected the pictures you like, please book a consultation. This process will help achieving the perfect result for you.

What eyelashes would suit me?

Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths, thicknesses and curls. Your artist should always discuss with you what style you are interested in. It is also important to take into consideration your face and eye shape features, as well as the quality of your own natural lashes. With all these factors in mind, the artist will make a professional decision regarding what is harmless for your natural lashes to hold. That’s the way eyelashes can be safely worn for years. Therefore, each set is always bespoke to a client.

Is it painful?

It shouldn’t be painful at all. If you feel any discomfort during the treatment – let your artist know about it. After eyelashes are applied you shouldn’t feel them at all – they shouldn’t be heavy, clumpy or irritating.

Can extensions make a damage?

If applied correctly, in a professional way, eyelash extensions will never damage your natural eyelashes. There are certain rules a qualified Lash Artist should follow while applying eyelash extensions. Following eyelash extensions application you shouldn’t feel them at all, they should be light, not too long and not too thick. Basically, they must be chosen personally for you – for your individual eyelash thickness, length and condition.

Can I remove extensions myself?

Although the adhesive we work with is sensitive to oils and some articles might advise that you can remove your eyelashes at home using any vegetable oil, we strongly recommend visiting a professional lash studio to remove your extensions harmlessly. The main ingredient of adhesive is cyanoacrylate and special remover is needed to dissolve it efficiently.

What is the aftercare?

Once you had your lashes done, you have to care for them. It’s important to wash and brush them daily to avoid any potential infections and inflammations. Please also avoid any oily products on the lash line. If you love to use eyeliner, make sure that it’s oil free.

How to maintain them?

If you are planning to keep wearing your lashes continuously, you’ll need to come for regular touch ups/infills. The latter should be done every three weeks to maintain a beautiful and full lash line.

What is the cost?

The cost of eyelash extensions might vary between £30 and £300. Check our article here about the true cost of lash extensions – there are some tips what to pay attention to while choosing the right place. You should also have in mind that it’d cost you £45 to £75 to maintain your lashes every three weeks.
