How to Prep for Your First Spa Pedicure – Tips from Juli

Written by Juli, Founder of Juli Lash Studio, Reading

Hi lovely,
If you’ve never had a spa pedicure before, first of all — welcome. I'm so happy you're here.

I know that booking your first appointment can feel a bit daunting. I’ve had clients message me asking:

“Do I need to shave my legs?”
“What should I wear?”
“Are my feet too bad to be seen?”

So let me put your mind at ease. Whether your feet are dry, cracked, tired, or untouched for years — you’re in the right place. I created this guide to walk you through what to expect and how to prep so you can walk in feeling confident and walk out feeling amazing.

🧘‍♀️ Feeling Nervous? You’re Not Alone.

So many people feel self-conscious about their feet. But let me tell you — we don’t judge.

At Juli Lash Studio, we’re here to help, not to critique. Our spa pedicures are designed to restore your skin, relax your mind, and leave you glowing from heel to toe.

Whether it’s cracked heels, rough skin, or just not knowing what to expect, please know:
You don’t need “perfect feet” to book a pedicure.
You just need to show up — we’ll take care of the rest.

🧼 What Should I Do Before My Pedicure?

Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

Don’t worry about shaving your legs

It’s not necessary at all. We focus on your feet and lower legs — and we don’t care if you’ve shaved or not.

Wear something comfortable

Loose trousers, leggings, or skirts that can roll up above your calves are ideal. We’ll be massaging the lower leg and ankle.

Remove old polish if you can

It helps speed things up, but if not — no stress! We can take care of it.

Avoid heavy exfoliation the day before

Let us handle the scrubbing — overdoing it at home can make your skin sensitive.

Stay hydrated and relax

A hydrated body supports healthier skin and a more relaxing experience.

🌿 What to Expect During Your Treatment

Your first spa pedicure is all about you.

Here’s the general flow:

  1. Warm aromatherapy foot soak to relax your muscles and soften the skin

  2. Gentle exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin

  3. Callus softening (especially if your heels are dry or cracked)

  4. Hydrating foot mask and hot towel wrap

  5. Soothing massage for your feet and lower legs

  6. Cuticle care + nail shaping + polish or gel finish (optional)

Throughout, you can chat, ask questions, or simply close your eyes and unwind. You’re in good hands.

👣 Pedicure Etiquette – Do’s and Don’ts

Here are a few friendly tips:

  • Do arrive on time so we can make the most of your session

  • Don’t feel embarrassed about your feet — we’ve seen it all

  • Do tell us if you're ticklish or sensitive

  • Don’t worry if you flinch — we’ll adjust our technique gently

  • Do speak up if something feels uncomfortable

It’s your time. You get to relax, not worry.

💡 Aftercare Tips to Keep Your Feet Happy

After your pedicure, I’ll recommend products or routines if needed, but here are some basics:

  • Apply moisturiser daily to lock in hydration

  • Let your nails dry fully if you had regular polish

  • Avoid tight shoes for a few hours post-treatment

  • Ask about Elim or Footlogix homecare if your heels need extra TLC
